Happy Birthday to my fellow October baby, Ciara! On her special day she announced her pregnancy with hubby Russell Wilson:
And immediately people were all over the Internet putting out their two-sense on what a grown married woman does with her husband and when.
It’s exhausting. I wanted to post this simply because women in general are constantly being told what they aren’t doing right or enough compared to another woman. Or women are expected to live in this complex structure of living their life, especially a Christian woman. You’re considered a dusty prude for waiting, you’re excluded from God’s promise if you have sex or children before marriage, you’re a whore if you enjoy sex, and it goes on and on into stupefying levels of nonsense.
The Wilsons got married in July of this year, so for people to say pregnancy is too soon is a bit intrusive to me. Couples get married in part to create families together, so other people’s comments on why “so soon” or even worse, calling her out of her name, has many of us scratching our heads:
And again we’re reminded that Ciara and Russell are examples of that #upgrade life:
Because, deep down, we are praying for that moment in life ourselves:
So let other people and outsiders argue with each other while you continue living:
And that’s the point–keep living, boo!
Some people just don’t want to see you thrive, upgrade, recover, heal and live beyond their limitations on you.
That is the essence of my book, Journey to 30: A Single Woman’s Guide to Living Unapologetically Without Deadlines. It’s to encourage and empower women that the pressures put on you by society to be this or that is not your portion; that God has you where you need to be and when for your purpose and His glory. My life is a testament to that, so I can definitely say again blessings and congratulations to Ciara and Russell and everyone else who’s living unapologetically without people’s opinions or deadlines.
