Let’s face it, we have issues with our singleness at times. We are going to be frustrated, we may get lonely, we may also get really grateful or finally understand why God in His infinite wisdom allowed you and me to be single or unmarried up to this point.
One writer and poet understands that inner angst that we sometimes feel in this season of life and took it to the pen and paper to publish our February Book of the Month: Journey to Love, Volume 1 by Nicole A. Schmidt.
Nicole creatively maps out the journey to love that many singles embark (myself included) that covers several moments in the journey from meeting someone we think could be the one to coming to terms with God’s “no,” finding peace in the wait, as well as submitting the process of becoming a godly spouse to the Lord. “The Single Woman’s Prayer” was one notable piece for the ladies:
“Help me to guard my heart – not out of fear, but with wisdom. I want to be led by you, not my extreme emotions. What you have for me is for me, so I can rest in your promise and simply enjoy one day at a time.” -Nicole A. Schmidt
Nicole’s book of original Christian poetry is conversational and real. It’s not filled with idealistic imagery, but paints the picture of realism for many of us. That sometimes we are not ready to date and that’s okay, that real love takes time and patience that God’s cultivating in us, and how to come to terms with “embracing” this time we have as single women and men.
When we learn to honor the season that we are in, like she shares in another piece in the book, we will see that God’s plan for our wait has value:

Another favorite piece of mine is called The Ruth Trap, but you’ll have to get the book to read it and the other great poems and essays as well.
