On Friday, June 10, 2016, a group of ladies got together at Bottle & Bottega to sip beverages, taste yummy treats, and try their hand at painting. I partnered with Liz Lampkin, author of the June Book of the Month: “Are You a Reflection of the Man You Pray For?” to host a Girls Night Out at the South Loop location of the painting studio.
We had great hosts and painting instructor who taught us how to paint these gorgeous cherry portraits.
One of the highlights of the evening was the discussion we had with our guests beforehand. I talked with the ladies about the wait as in celibacy while living single. In these summer months the temptation to sin is high as well as it was in the winter (cuddle season, Netflix & Chill), so I shared with them as I’m sharing here that we are responsible for our choices and actions.
At the end of the day waiting is about pleasing God over what we may want in the moment, which in most cases is only a fleeting moment anyway. If you have a struggle with your wait, connect with some ministries that specialize in praying and encouraging you to walk in purity, holy and set apart for God, as our reasonable service to Him. It’s easy to say, but hard to do, I know, but God will keep you!
Liz then talked with the ladies about waiting for marriage in the sense of not rushing to get into a relationship because you want to get married. She shared among other great points that we may be single for a reason and need to take that time to explore our personal why’s with the Father. Sometimes the wait or delay is not a bad thing! It may not even be you or what “you’re doing wrong,” etc. It just may not be your time yet, so enjoy every moment while you can to be single, free of certain responsibilities and be obedient to the Lord.
Overall we had a fun time and I encourage you to try a painting class if you haven’t before, it’s a good way to meet new people and learn a new skill.
