This week’s prayer focus for your future spouse is on their integrity.
In your specific prayers for your future spouse, cover them in the area of their character. We can desire a spouse with good looks, style, or an amazing personality, but how about that integrity?
“Integrity requires an inner sense of ‘wholeness’ and consistency of character. When you are in integrity, people should be able to visibly see it through your actions, words, decisions, methods, and outcomes.” Source
The kind of honesty driven by their conviction and love for the Lord. The kind of “upfrontness” that will admit when they’re wrong instead of shifting blame. The integrity that steps up and takes responsibility. The integrity that honors and respects you even when you’ve made them upset. The kind of integrity that is faithful to you even when the world suggests that men or women like those do not exist anymore.
We as people in this society want to value honesty so much, but it’s hard to come by. Pray that you will be a person of godly integrity in all areas and especially with your spouse. What is the driving factor behind what they do: fear, tradition, ignorance, pride, faith, lust, or respect for God? We may not know until we see the fruit.
Pray that you will be able to see your spouse beyond their flaws in the moments when they fail and see their consistent character and integrity. Cover them with grace and prayer in this because the enemy tempts us all the time in little things that chip away at our overall moral standards. Keeping God’s standards in holiness is not an option if we want to live with integrity. Pray that your spouse will respond to the Holy Spirit as they grow to understand when they need to change, repent, take the high road, etc.

Marriage can and will be challenging; pray for your future spouse to have the character that’s willing to fight with you against the tactics the enemy will throw your way. Take time beyond this post and get specific with God on what you see as a man or woman of God with integrity. Here are some scriptures for support in your prayer time.
- Pray for their love for the Lord to be a source for their integrity (Proverbs 2:7-8; 1 Chronicles 29:17)
- Pray that the Father can trust your spouse because of their heart (Matthew 25:23)
- Pray that they will be consistent in their commitment to God (Ecclesiastes 5:4)
- Pray that their consistency in mind and actions in life is pleasing to God (1 Thessalonians 4:1)
- Pray that they have peace with everyone, even their enemies (Proverbs 16:7)
- Pray that their integrity will be something your children would model after (2 Corinthians 1:12)
