Our next #SingleGoals2020 feature is Life I. from Boise, Idaho! She is in her early twenties, but carries much wisdom about living for God in her single season. Check out our interview below:
BLISS: Share how you are making the most out of your singleness:
L: It involves a combination of things. First, giving God the first things. Anything that I do must work around the commitments I have made to God. If I have to set aside something God placed in my hands to care for, then the answer is: “I’m sorry, I won’t be able to make it.”
“God honors when you honor him first and foremost. He wants to be your first priority.”
Second, I have had to learn to take care of myself. Maaaan, boundaries have never been my strong suit, but I have found that when I let any manner of things into my space, it impedes my ability to do what God has called me to do because I am emotionally distracted and unhealthy.
This leads me to the last thing–doing what I am called to do. I know I was created to take care of God’s people and pour into others, so that’s what I do. I find every opportunity to love and serve and I make myself available. I don’t over-complicate it. See a need, fill the need.
BLISS: What is one piece of advice that you would like to share with other singles?
L: “Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal…” 1 Kings 19:18. You are alone. Stay faithful, because He is faithful.
BLISS: What are you currently doing in ministry or for the Kingdom of God?
L: As far as specific responsibility go, I am on the worship team and intercessory team in my congregation.
Apart from that, whatever needs to get done I am happy to do. I meet with different people from within my congregation and in my personal life to read, fellowship, and encourage on a regular basis. I am always looking for opportunities, and they always show up differently.
